Hello, I’m Amy! I’m a freelance product designer who also works as a chemical engineer. Bringing both an analytical and creative mind to the table, I love to focus on the details and then drive improvements. I’m currently seeking opportunities that will allow me to create beautiful, functional products by analyzing human needs and solving problems.
How did I get here?
Engineering and Design. Do they even go together?
Yes, they do! It’s all about problem solving. Whether it’s making new chemicals, optimizing a process, aiding a user’s experience, or creating a tangible product, there are parallels between the industries. While engineering might focus on more data-driven practices and design focuses more on human-driven practices, both seek to improve upon what currently exists (or create something that doesn’t!). We all want to make things better. For me, I seek to fully understand the problem so I can work towards a solution that truly provides an improvement. I do my research, develop and test solutions, implement, and refine.
Although I can’t resist analyzing some great data, I also want to work with intangibles such as emotions and aesthetics. While process engineers develop, choose, and sequence units to transform materials, I want to focus on solutions to transform the human experience.
